For some, working out at the gym or at home even is not a fun way to burn calories. What you may not have realized is that you can burn calories by doing fun things you enjoy.

If you have children it’s a little easier to come up with the fun activities that burn calories. Assuming that you do have children or maybe a niece or nephew let’s look at a few fun ways you and the kids can burn those calories.

Children love to play outdoor games. How about a good old fashion game of Duck, Duck, Goose? Red Rover, tag, freeze, hide and seek are just a few favorites of children and by playing with them not only are you getting in some good quality time with your little ones, you’re also burning calories!

Older children enjoy shooting hoops or playing a little one on one basketball. How about throw and catch, badminton? Frisbee, swimming, touch football, backyard soccer, hiking, or even biking are wonderful ways to burn calories.

The point is burning those calories can be fun and you don’t even realize you’re “exercising” while you do it. Roller skating or Ice skating, or even sledding will give you a good workout.

The best thing you can do is forget about the words calorie, weight loss, diet, exercise, and workout and just have fun and watch those pounds melt off just by playing with your children.

Children have so much energy they are hard to keep up with, so in the beginning you may find yourself lagging behind. Don’t get discouraged; just go with it. Pretty soon you will have as much energy as the little ones and all the while you play and have fun you will be burning the calories!

When was the last time you jumped rope and sang a little ditty about a girl named Sally who kissed a boy named Billy? Try it. The song will come back after the first verse. How about hop scotch! Get out the chalk and draw your board find your rocks and hop!

Spending a day at the playground is beneficial also. Pushing the kids on the swings or using your legs to pump your swing high in the air is a great way to burn calories. A day at the beach is also a wonderful to burn off calories playing in the waves and building sand castles chasing each other around on the soft sand that’s a workout!

There are so many fun ways to burn calories if you just fit two or three of them into your day you will get a good amount of exercise and also burn a few hundred calories while watching what you eat and staying active you could easily lose five pounds without even noticing it.

Don’t think of your weight loss plan as a burden. Think of it as an adventure and with every adventure comes a few minor setbacks and a lot of fun!
